Dervla has over 20 years of experience in research, development, and management roles in a variety of professional environments ranging from Revenue to IBM. Dervla was the Head of Data in the Pensions Authority until December 2024.

An experienced project manager, she also has significant expertise in research methods, data exploration and reporting, business intelligence, and risk estimation. Dervla has been certified as a Data Protection Practitioner by the Irish Computer Society. She has a particular interest in accessibility and in exploring and progressing equality and inclusion through the use of data and language.

Dervla is also an accomplished public speaker and has delivered presentations on her work and research interests both nationally and internationally, including at the OECD Forum on Tax and Crime in Amsterdam and the OECD Forum on Tax Administration in Dublin. A presentation based on Dervla’s PhD research was voted best presentation by attendees at the International Conference on Computational Linguistics and Intelligent Text Processing in Greece in 2013.

Dervla is committed to lifelong learning and has recently completed a MBus degree in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Policy. Dervla has also published a number of peer-reviewed academic articles, including one in the highly respected Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
