Work-integrated Learning (WIL) Practice and Quality Assurance in Ireland - Quality and Qualifications Ireland

ThreeSixtyInsights was commissioned by QQI to undertake the development of topic-specific statutory quality assurance guidelines for WIL that will apply to all tertiary education providers in Ireland delivering programmes that entail the assessment of learning outcomes achieved (in part) through planned WIL experience (2024-2025). The early phase of the project involved consultation with a breadth of stakeholders, including employers, industry representative bodies, government agencies and practitioners working across the further and higher education sectors (including those involved in apprenticeship). Outputs from that consultation have included a typology of WIL practice in Irish tertiary education and training and a thematic analysis of stakeholder perspectives on quality assuring WIL.
